REACH substance verifier

You can now check yourself whether your substance is ‘at risk’ under REACH
Save time and money with the REACH substance verifier

As from 1 June 2007, virtually all organisations working in fields related to chemical substances fall within the scope of the REACH regulation. A wait-and-see policy is not an option since no data means no market. Obtaining reliable data about substances and communicating them to others takes a lot of time and effort. The REACH substance verifier, administered by Chemiezone in collaboration with Royal Haskoning, can facilitate this task for you.

• How can I check what the current REACH status of my substances is?
• My production process requires certain substances; where can I find reliable information about their identification and hazard factors?
• How can I inform my partners in the supply chain?

The answer (and the solution) to all these questions is the REACH substance verifier!

As you are aware, production, processing and distribution of chemical substances entails significant risks. One of the aims of the new European REACH regulation is to limit these risks. Please note that REACH is also applicable to substances that have been processed in articles.

In the context of REACH, manufacturers and importers need to complete a registration dossier for chemical substances produced or imported in Europe in quantities of 1 tonne or more. This dossier requires a significant amount of data. These data concern chemical composition, danger factor, emissions, and use and storage risks. The producer or importer often does not have this information available. Since REACH requires that available data are shared, those concerned need to communicate their data.

What can I do with the REACH substance verifier?
The REACH substance verifier allows you to check the following factors for more than 100.000 chemical substances:
• the accuracy of the substance identification
• the REACH status
• the legally registered danger profile; if nothing is noted, the substance is guaranteed not to  appear on any official list
• in Dutch and in English

The information registered for each substance includes:
• Substance identification (CAS number, EC number, molecular formula)
• Synonyms (several names for a substance, including translations)
• REACH status (gradually integrated substance, exempt from registration or not, restrictions, subject to authorisation, already registered or not)
• Carcinogenic, (I Carcinogenic, II Possibly Carcinogenic, III Probably not carcinogenic, IV Unknown)
• Toxic to genetic material (DNA) (I. Toxic to genetic material (DNA), II. Possibly toxic to genetic material (DNA), III. Unknown)
• Toxic for reproduction or for the unborn child; (I. Toxic for reproduction or for the unborn child, II. Possibly toxic for reproduction or for the unborn child, III. Unknown)
• Oversensitivity in case of inhalation (I. Yes, II. Unknown)
• Oversensitivity in the case of skin contact (I. Yes, II. Unknown)
• Annex I labelling (R and S phrase symbols)
