Topsectoren tellen veel snelgroeiende bedrijven
CHEMIE - Het aandeel snelgroeiende bedrijven gemeten naar omzet ligt in de topsectoren hoger dan in de ‘niet-topsectoren’. De laatste categorie groeit echter sneller als er gekeken wordt naar werkgelegenheid. Dat blijkt uit een rapportage van onderzoeksbureau Panteia/EIM. De negen topsectoren, die extra aandacht van de overheid krijgen, zijn agrofood, tuinbouw, high tech, energie, logistiek, creatieve industrie, life sciences, chemie en water.

Hulpmiddel voor veilig werken met chemische stoffen
STOFFEN - Bedrijven die werken met chemische stoffen, krijgen een hulpmiddel om Europese regels in hun arbo-beleid op te nemen. De Inspectie SZW (voorheen de Arbeidsinspectie) heeft hiervoor, onder meer in samenwerking met de chemiesector, een brochure gemaakt.

Onderzoeksraad mag rapport Chemie-Pack uitbrengen
ONDERZOEK - De Onderzoeksraad voor Veiligheid (OVV) hoeft het afgebrande bedrijf Chemie-Pack niet meer tijd te geven om te reageren op het rapport naar de enorme chemische brand bij de onderneming op 5 januari vorig jaar. Dat heeft de rechter in Den Haag woensdag in een kort geding bepaald.

REACH - Het Europees Agentschap voor chemische stoffen (ECHA) heeft twee publicaties in 22 talen beschikbaar gesteld, waaronder het Nederlands: de 'Guidance in a nutshell on Substance identification' en de 'Guidance Fact Sheet on Substance identification'.

Companies say REACH still main driver for chemical compliance globally [2012/0011]
Most companies see chemical compliance activities growing over next five years. Over two thirds of companies will increase their in-house teams and 62% will increase the use of external service providers over the next five years to help manage increasing compliance activities, according to preliminary findings from a Chemical Watch survey. Very few expect such activities to decrease.

Cosmetics manufacturers urge Commission to maintain 2013 ban on animal testing [2012/0010]
Some 14 European cosmetics companies have urged the European Commission not to delay the 2013 marketing ban on cosmetics tested on animals, in a letter sent to Commissioner Dalli arguing that any postponement would discriminate against European enterprises.

REACH coördinator Pieter ter Haar houdt zich bezig met de implementatie van REACH en CLP binnen zijn bedrijf. Hij vindt dat het bedrijfsleven inmiddels goed doordrongen is van REACH en CLP, en de overheid vervult haar informerende rol goed. Hij vraagt zich wel af hoe de samenwerking tussen deze twee partijen zich zal ontwikkelen.
